I've long admired the Christian Motorcyclists Association as an evangelical ministry. It's a niche ministry that evangelizes to bikers.
Bikers sharing the Gospel with bikers. Brilliant! Certainly people respond quicker to the Gospel message when it comes from someone familiar, such as a fellow biker, or in my case, a fellow gamer.
Yes, I was a role-playing geek, and proud of it. A more interesting social activity (unless you want to meet girls) has never been invented.
But what sets bikers and gamers apart? Bikers have a strong, evangelistic ministry witnessing Christ to them across the country. Gamers do not.
There is a small organization called the Christian Gamers' Guild, but they lack the money and manpower to do what the CMA is doing for bikers.
I once thought that this might be the ministry that God was directing me to, but He has concluded otherwise.
But I hope that God raises up such an organization, or expands the CGG to fit the task, so that the Word and God's grace can be brought to gamers through the familiar voices of other gamers.

i thought about starting a gaming group at blakemore umc. we have several students in the youth group who play dnd or magic and then a couple of guys in my sunday school class used to play various games.
it hasn't happened yet. it would be fun. i would suck, but it would still be fun.
I've thought about the christian gamers guild too. I think I'm technically a member, but I haven't gamed in a very long time. Unfortunately all my gamer friends live far enough away that playing is a pain.
At this point if I really wanted to pick up a role-playing game, I'd either go online or buy some guns and do Cowboy Action Shooting. There is already a huge christian influence there via the Prayer Posse and other groups within those events.
