Can You Be Calvinist and Baptist?

Joe Carter says yes:

But Josh, a Lutheran, made a ridiculous comment implying that we Baptists can’t really be Calvinists. Not only is this idea silly, it’s downright unscriptural. Just look, for example, at Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist. Is Josh going to claim that JTB was not a Calvinist? According to the Bible, JTB ate bugs and lived in the woods down by the river. That not only sounds like the behavior of a wild-eyed Calvinist but it sounds like John was a Southern Baptist.

Of course, those of us who support Biblical theology have little at stake in this debate.
