John Wesley or Kahless?

Posted by Picasa

If you've spend any amount of time reading John Wesley, I'm sure that you've noticed the way his thinking strongly resembles Klingon philosophy. Look at these quotations and see if you can figure out which are quotations from Wesley, and which are traditional Klingon proverbs. The answers are at the bottom.

1. "When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart."

2. "Four thousand throats may be cut in one night by a running man."

3. "Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles to watch you burn."

4. "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

5. "No matter where you go, there you are."

6. "A friend may become an enemy in the time it takes to draw a blade."

Answers:
1. Wesley
2. Klingon
3. Wesley
4. Klingon
5. Klingon
6. Calvin

How did you do?

"Catch on fire with enthusiasm and people will come for miles to watch you burn."

I used that in a sermon recently but my information was that this was attributed to D. L. Moody. After seeing your post, I googled the expression and the following people "said" it:
1. D. L. Moody
2. John Wesley
3. Charles Wesley
4. Charles Spurgeon
5. Some guy
6. Loads of plagarists

Anybody have a cite on the J. W. quote? I'd much rather be quoting him than Moody (no offense you Moodians!)

Can you imagine Charles Wesley with a bat'leth? Man, he would kick butt!

Betcha Spurgeon would just run away, crying like a little girl.

"Revenge is a dish best served cold" is actually from Shakespeare...
