I wish I could say that I'm surprised, but I guess I'm not. It is hard to believe, however, that the university could not have seen this coming and still allowed his "speech".

Two wrongs do not make a right. This kind of language, regardless of its origin, cannot be excused nor explained away as "look at what the other is doing". It must be heartily condemned by reasonable people, not celebrated as free speech or righting a wrong.
