The Islamic riots in France are dissipating. That makes sense because after twelve straight days of burning cars and breaking things, your average thug would probably like to take day off.
Presciently, Wretchard predicted this senario.

To call the riots, Islamic is to fundamentally misjudge and misundersatnd what is going on... You seem to suggest (in a later post) the US never has a problem with this kind of thing (er... what were the Watts riots then??) The US has multi culturalism in its blood???? Tell that to the people who were killed because of their colour or racial backgound on US soil... in living memory!!!

I'll agree that there are disputes about the religious nature of the riots. The information is unclear.

Really? Where?

Yes, yes. Amerikkka sucks. How could I ever forget. I guess that morally justifies the riots in France somehow.
shoot friends, lets take off our dunce caps and take a deeper look at what happened in France. P O'd youth rioting because they have been given crap to start off with and live in a society that does not respect them enough to even pay attention. Does circumstance justify - no never, but instead of arrogance, perhaps we can show compassion - to both sides of the unrest- or at least take the issue a bit more seriously then making it the blog joke of the day. In the end the unrest in France will effect the world on some level and eventually even us - over here on our island of Amerikka.... Those rioting are not all Islamic, listen to NPR or the BBC sometime instead of Fox and you might get your facts straight.
Here Here FA!
John I was referring to your posting of "Jeff The Baptists" post, if I overstated your views I apologise. Perhaps we are both guilty of overstatement ;-)
Americans may get fed up of sweeping generalisations and Caricaturing... you know all US citizens are Bush loving, gun toting rednecks etc... ;-) I don't believe that, but we in Europe get just as fed up of Americans pronouncing on European problems as if they know better than we do about what is going on. Many European Christians also get fed up with being judged by the actions of the US "Moral Majority", TV evangelists (bank balance builders) and the whole Christian Identity, right wing paranoia thing ... as I'm sure many of you do too! So I apologise if sometimes we/I react too strongly.
Mark, you have a fair point. It's hard to get a clear picture of what's going on on opposite sides of the Atlantic.
