Church Mission Statements

Prooftexting is dangerous. If you take your church's motto directly out of Scripture, make sure that you're not quoting Satan.

Hat tip.

Looks like it was the work of a hacker. Some parts of the blogosphere have apologies to make, I reckon.

There was no hacker involvement. Makes for a good read on an RSS feed, but it's just not true. It was an unfortunate error caused by an out of context quote gathered from an online Biblical quote engine. As soon as we found out about the mistake we corrected it immediately.

All I can suggest to the blogosphere is enjoy the briefly elevated traffic.

Thanks for that explanation, Art.
Technology tends to make one less than thorough, hmm? Why open a book when you can just google it? (Not just this case, but all of us! I'm guilty of making similar mistakes.)
