Art Blogging: Edouard Bernard Debat-Ponsan
During the night, one of my neighbors decided to get drunk and break into my house. Clearly he needs the civilizing influence of the fine arts, such as the lovely paintings of Edouard Bernard Debat-Ponsan (1847-1913), a French Academic painter. A native of Toulouse, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts under Cabanel. He debuted at the Salon in 1870 and became a successful genre and portrait painter. I'm particularly fond of a series of paintings that Ponson produced of puppy love in the countryside. At the Well (1888) is a good example of his playful romanticism.

That is an interesting piece. I agree with Blake. Art has been ravaged by nihilism. Thankfully, people like the folks at the Art Renewal Center are hard at work reviving true art.
