I agree with this video, because if the Bible is clear on any one issue it is that we should demean and belittle the aliens and foreigners within our land

And give them free medical care, let them cheat their way into citizenship, and drop our own language in favor of theirs.

But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. Lev. 19:34

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God. Lev. 23:22

Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land. Deut. 23:7

John,

I respect you tremendously, and more often than not, we come to the same theolocial conclusion.

And, actually on this issue, politically, you have a very good point. One, I don't agree with, but a legitimate political/sociological point.

I just struggle with what the bible/tradition say to us on this issue when it confronts the political reality.

As well, things are as rosey for hispanic immigrants as we sometimes make it out to be. The ones I know would love to be able to just lay around taking in free heath care. But, it is not so.

I hope do not come in a "smart alleck" manner; that is the last thing I wanted to do. It is just this is a human issue that lots of folks struggle to think through.

If we are going to apply the Mosaic Law to foreigners, should then we not also forbid them from worshipping anyone other than the Christian god?

Sure, and while we're at it let's start stoning people again.

And let's not forget about clearing the land of those pesky Canaanites; every last man, woman, and child.

That's what I thought the video was going to be about when I originally saw the link.

More caricatures - guess while we are seeking a laugh at other's expense, I will throw my own caricature into the pot:

- the people who created the video are bald, white, drive pick-ups, have a gun-rack in the cab, a confederate flag on the rear bumper, have interesting tatoos on their arms that look like a cross (but the arms of the cross are bent, what is that about?), and are holding out for David Duke for the next presidental election.

...oh, and by the way, they don't speak good English either.

I notice that no one is questioning the factual accuracy of what the video is accusing. The outrage without argumentation is rather revealing.

The post, with its own outrage and no accompanying comment or argumentation, was certainly revealing as well.

That's kind of the nature of humor. Jokes are best left without explanation.
