Art Blogging: Albert Joseph Moore

Albert Joseph Moore (1841-1893) was a British Aesthetic artist. He was a native of York and studied at the Royal Academy in London. Moore was a moderate success financially and died young because he did not take care of his health.

The Aesthetic movement was a Victorian artistic and literary movement which argued that art should speak of refined, elegant, and sensual pleasure instead of serving an allegorical or sentimental purpose.
Moore expressed this objective with dreamy, ethereal portraits of Greco-Roman women in diaphanous gowns. This is Dreamers in the Birmingham Museums of Art (UK).
