Asbury is not a leftist seminary- trust me! I transfered from Asbury to Brite and I KNOW what left-leaning looks like.
Now, Asbury does make students see the distinction between the Kingdom of God and the US of A- and that's a good thing.
I know some Evangelicals have blurred patriotism with theology so much that they think that the Kingdom of God is a fair-market capitalistic society. And from that point of view, even folks like N.T. Write look like flaming libs. And that sort of thinking is exactly why ATS teachers courses like Kingdom, Church, and World.
And some Christians have confused hating America with the Gospel. Both are incorrect.
Courses like Kingdom, Church, and World are good for questioning assumptions and a seminary has failed if it never makes students think about points of view other than their own.
