Baptize the Little Bastard

Isn't it amazing that so many people who have spent a lifetime in church have missed out on the most basic tenets of Christian teaching?

yes it is amazingly disturbing. Here are 2 comments i've heard as a pastor, they haunt me:

1. "I'm 80+ years old, I've been in Church all my life and I don't know a thing about the Bible."

2. (from a 70+ year old who has always attended Church) "I don't and have never read my Bible because the less I know, the less I am accountable for.

How about that?

Shoot, I'm amazed that he was willing to admit that.

At the time, it was less of an "admission" and more of a regretf-filled rebuke of the Church.

A pastor friend of mine once had a cantankerous older parishoner who had blocked many church leadership initiatives and was a general thorn in the side.

One day my friend asked him why he kept doing that.

The man replied that he disagreed with and did not believe many things that were taught in the Bible.
