"Oh Honey, They're Playing Our Song!"

The "our song" that Katherine and I share is Tear Stained Eye by Kasey Chambers. I can't find an online version, but it's really, really good. Katherine tells me that the best music in the world comes from Austin.

Another favorite of ours is Kenny Chesney's Anything But Mine. We have an Austin-style cover of this song which is superior -- more hauntingly romantic -- than the original.

What's your "our song"?

I recommend listening to the original Tear Stained Eye by Son Volt

"One Lonely Night", REO Speedwagon. The video was especially cute, featuring a near-sighted Knight. (J)and I really felt like this hit us while we were dating.

I don't know, Tim. I haven't deleted anything.

Thanks, Matthew. May I ask which blog you are referring to?

For Jon and me, it's "Have a Little Faith in Me." We prefer Delbert McClinton's version to the original, though.

Basically I said the same thing as Jay. It went something like "Dude, only Son Volt can sing "Tear Stained Eyes". BTW, Son Volt's Trace is one of my favorite albums.

Nah, Kasey can sing anything in my opinion. I love her music, her voice, her attitude, everything.

Odd choice for "our song" though, given that it's about the thoroughly depressing Great Flood of 1993. Great song, I love it, but it's really sad, especially if you lived in or near St. Louie like I did in '93. Or Iowa, which looked like a sixth Great Lake.

Valmeyer, Illinois was totally devastated and the entire town was moved to higher ground after the destruction.

But yes, the best music does come from Austin. (Even though Kasey Chambers is from Australia and Jay Farrar is from Belleville, IL - but their music fits with the Austin scene better than anywhere else).

Good taste, John!

Oh, and our song is John Hiatt's "Angel Eyes," but the Jeff Healey Band version.
