I think it would have been more accurate if the cat immediately wanted to be let back out as soon as the door was shut. That seemed to be my cats - just wanted to know the option to come was available. That, and make sure we understood we were there to do their bidding.
Yes, I lived with cats for three months last summer, and as soon as they were let in, they immediately wanted back out.
