"To See the Invisible Man" is one of the greater episodes of 1980s version of The Twilight Zone. Based on a short story by Robert Silverberg, it is the tale of a man sentenced to a year of shunning by the entire world as punishment for having a cold personality.

Have you ever been invisible? I have.
When the Church is working, it is a place where invisible people can go to be seen.

I have been, too. Especially in college/grad school. One incident in particular stands out. The first week of my residency the other resident and I (we worked in pairs) rotated thru the various parts of the department. Several times eligable female staff members pulled me off to the side to ask if Bill was married, seeing anybody, etc. Not a single one asked about me. Chopped liver is what I felt like.
I'm only invisible when no one is looking. (Name that movie!)
I do believe almost every one (normal, that is) goes through a period of time where they are invisible. Interesting to contemplate why.
