I actually did not think of "Khaaan" when I heard of his death, but rather, "Da plane, da plane"... which of course was not his line, but rather Tatoo's, his diminutive co-star's....
According to Wikipedia, Khan himself was Scandanavian, but ruled western Asia. Memory Alpha, though, says his genetic material is suspected to be Indian.
Oh, and Montalban's last great television appearance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBJCoPRRDuw
Yes, Memory Alpha http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Khan_Noonien_Singh says, "Khan's background was suspected to be Sikh, from the northern region of India." And the historian specifically mentions Sikh as his likely heritage in Space Seed, iirc. CBS has the full episode at youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDboDUfbAe8

First Patrick McGoohan, then Ricardo Montalban. It's been a bad couple of days for science fiction fans. :(
Does this mean that I will no longer be able to buy a car with Corinthian Leather seats?

All Nordic supermen must endure their going hence.
It is really going to be a beautiful service -- his remains will be launched in a torpedo tube.
From what I remember about the Eugenics Wars, I thought that Khan was Indian, not Scandinavian.
But I could be wrong. At least, he became the master of South Asia before his fall from power.

I'll go with Memory Alpha. It's a more tightly edited wiki than Wikipedia.
