Pounding Feet

Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I ran five miles. I've set it as a goal a few weeks ago and have been building up to it. My inner thighs feel a bit tender today, but I survived.

Nice work! I really enjoy running; it relaxes me, it keeps me in shape (I tend toward "dumpy" in stature), and it is my best alone time with God.

Congratulations and welcome to the insanity of running.

I've finished 1 marathon and trained with my wife for her 5 marathons and I can tell you it's very rewarding and at the same time something I wouldn't wish on anybody.

Agree wholeheartedly with Larry B . . . rewarding but wouldn't wish it on anybody! I have run several half-marathons now, and am starting to train for another. If you can run 5 miles on a regular basis, then a half-marathon would be an excellent personal goal. Come up here to Indiana to run with your 34,999 closest friends in the Indianapolis half-marathon in May every year - it is the largest half-marathon in the world, and a total blast!

I would only run 5 miles if something really big was chasing me!

Well done. As an old lady who had to lay off the running 15 years ago due to bad knees, I'm envious. But I agree about the addictive insanity of running. Enjoy.

I used to be able to run 5 miles... a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... seriously though, good work!!

Running isn't something I enjoy. Actually, I find it boring. I just do it because it's unmatched as a form of exercise.

Years ago, I enjoyed amateur (emphasis on amateur) bodybuilding. Slamming iron -- now that's fun! Alas, I lack the time and money necessary for that sport.
