After 16 Years, The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Is Going Off the Air
I was in high school when it first came out, and I watched the first episode. It was so bad that I boldly predicted that it would be canceled by the end of the week. I was spectacularly wrong.
It lasted for 700 episodes over 17 seasons. That's quite a run.
Did you know that one of the actors who played the Green Ranger is now on death row in California?

Power Rangers was never popular because it was well written. It was popular with executives because it was cheap to produce and easy to merchandise. My guess is that the Japanese shows they recut to make Power Rangers finally finished their run so they no longer have a cheap source of stock footage.
That's true -- Saban managed to figure out a way to repackage old Japanese material and market it again.
I didn't even realize they were still making new episodes. I was glad to catch this, and I posted a link at The New Buzz (http://seabluegreen.com/thenewbuzz/board/)
Thanks, Rich!
That actor was never a power ranger in the series. He was an extra from one specific episode.
