Usually, I find laugh tracks to be detrimental to a comedy, but I guess that they can improve a drama. This video of the scene from The Empire Strikes Back in which Luke and Vader fight has a laugh track timed to the action and dialogue. It's surprisingly funny, especially when Luke's hand gets cut off.

At first, I thought this was blasphemy, but by the end, I was chuckling along.
Me, too.
I hope that he doesn't do this with the Ewoks scenes from ROTJ. That would be overkill.
