Star Wars Version of Le Déjeuner Sur L'Herb

"Le Déjeuner Sur L'Herbe" ("Luncheon on the Grass") was a major work by French Impressionist Édouard Manet, executed in 1862-3 and exhibited at the Salon in the latter year. It is presently at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Pictured below is the original, and above, a Star Wars version by cartoonist Philip Bond.

Art Blogging: James Best

James Best (1926- ) is an American actor, drama instructor, and painter. He was born in Powderly, Kentucky with the name Jewel Guy and raised in an orphanage. Best found success in the Western genre, but became most famous for his role as Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane in The Dukes of Hazzard. He was also a highly accomplished acting coach and taught at the University of Mississippi and the University of Central Florida. Best is now retired and operates a rural resort in Ontario. He also paints extensively, mostly landscapes with oils and acrylics.

Art Blogging: Winston Churchill

Winston Churchill (1874-1965) was a British Impressionist painter of landscapes and still lives. He was self-trained and engaged in painting as a hobby. Churchill's works were noted for their vibrant, sweepingly romantic colors with wide variations within a canvas. Under pseudonyms, he exhibited in France and then later at the Royal Academy in London. He held large, public exhibitions from 1947 to his death, and his reputation as an artist has steadily grown. Recently, one of landscapes sold at Sotheby's for $1.2 million.
