Resegregation

You know what the power of eminent domain lets governments do?

It allows local governments to remove black people from neighborhoods by condemning their homes.

I blame the founding fathers. If they had only had the sense to write this stuff down instead of leaving it up to the courts we wouldn't have this problem.

Maybe the problem isn't eminent domain but the whole city structure. A city should be an abstract set up for the benefit of the people within set boundaries. Not set up to save the abstract from sinking under it's own weight.

The idea of eminent domain being used to build a school or hospital or road is one thing.

But for SCOTUS to allow e.d. to be used for the benefit or private contractors and developers is disturbing to say the least.

The black community should be sounding the alarm over this sort of thing. And any other group who isn't popular in their hometown should be on the look-out.

If you ask me, we're going to need a new Constitutional Amendment to protect the property rights of average citizens.
