Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) was a Dutch Baroque painter famous for his scenes of bourgeois domestic tranquility from the Netherlands' golden age of wealth and empire. I've never been a fond for the Dutch Masters, as they always seemed a bit too dull. This is his painting
Lady Writing a Letter with Her Maid. It, like the rest of Vermeer's corpus, never really grabbed me.
