Geeky Variations of "Dogs Playing Poker"

Cassius Marcellus Coolidge's iconic images of dogs playing poker (or pool) have captivated audiences for more than a century. They have been oft modified and parodied, including these geeky variations:

Wolverines Playing Poker

Wolverines

In order to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Wolverine character, Marvel Comics released a series of covers that depicted the savage Canadian as famous artists would have. Pictured above is one clearly modeled on Cassius Marcellus Coolidge's Dogs Playing Poker series. I artblogged about Coolidge four years ago.

Samurai John Belushi/Wolverine

Do you remember the 70s-era Saturday Night Live sketch series in which the late John Belushi played a crazed samurai in improbable career choices?

Yes, no, kinda? Well, here's a clip to refresh your memory:

Well, now that we're on the same page: deviantART user Shinobitron made a figurine which blends Samurai Belushi with Wolverine.

It's sort of like that episode of Star Trek: Voyager in which there's a transporter accident and Tuvok and Neelix are merged into one being, except with a 70s vibe.
