You know what would be a really bad idea? If we used rabbits as currency -- you know, instead of paper bills and metal coins. Different breeds would represent different denominations; Netherland Dwarves would replace the $1 bill and Flemish Giants would replace $100 bills.
Can you imagine how this would change wallets? Or ATM machines? Or vending machines? Also, the nature of investing would radically change. Certainly no one would neuter rabbits anymore. Retirement planning would consist of ever larger hutches in the backyard. The NYSE would become a pet store.
So if Gavin were to say to me "Hey, John -- let's make our currency system lapine-based. It would be so cool." I'd be like, "Gavin, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard." And he'd be like "John, after the superglue incident you have no right to call anyone stupid."
And then we'd sumo-wrestle.
'Cause that's what Methodists do.

Does that mean my lucky rabbit's foot is simply the result of someone making change?
They would be pretty messy to carry around in your pockets too
It's worth a quarter. Use it for toll roads.
Yeah, but when is the last time you left two bucks alone in a chage and and wound up with fifty?
John you are on to something good here.
"when is the last time you left two bucks alone in a cage and wound up with fifty?"
Alas, I'm afraid that two bucks will not 'create interest', no matter how hard they try. ;)
The more I think about it, the more I don't like the bunny barter system. Bob is right, the thought of a lot of people carrying around half-dead hossenfeffer in their wallets is nasty.
I am imagining some pretty creative stewardship campaigns. Certainly more effective than some of the hare-brained campaigns we are doing now!
What's up doc,
Andy B.
I would give 50 English Angoras to John and Gavin Sumo Wrestle!!!
And the little "rabbit pellets" would be?????
In my experience, rabbit pellets make excellent replacements for dog food. In fact, we don't even need to buy dog food. We just buy Rabbit Chow and the rabbits turn it into our dog's food of choice.
