Out of curiosity, why "Thankfully"? NOt to say that the emergent church is where I find myself all the time, just much of it, but what do you find distasteful about it?
Mind you, I doubt that one can say there is 1 "Emergent Church" any more than there is 1 "fundamentalist church" or 1 "traditional church"
I do like coffee and drink quite a bit. I wonder if that qualifies me as emergent.
Then again, I drink house-brand coffee from the grocery store.
Anyway, even though I have worries about emergent theology, I've met a lot of really cool emergent bloggers who are dedicated Christians. By their fruit shall ye know them.
that's pretty entertaining...and i did pass as emergent in the "cumulative weight" side of things--i am married, no tats and weird hair, and i haven't read much brian mclaren...but i'm down with the likes of nt wright and dallas willard.
it seems to me that a goodly number of "emergent" folk are from conservative evangelical backgrounds, but have either engaged early Church history more deeply, along with a dose of wesleyanism or have ended up as cousins on their own...

I thought that you got bored of it. I'll go track it down and we'll publish.

Gord, I have grave concerns about emergent theology.
You should say you passed, then, John. I "failed" as I identified with more than I want to admit.

i don't know if there is an emergent theology. language or methodology, yes, theology, not so much.

I think that I remember that test. I had a higher Fundamentalist rating than anyone else in the Methoblogosphere, except for John Wilks. Waa-hoo!
I passed (too funny)
Thanks John!
