I recently wrote a column calling for the privatization of the Ministry of Silly Walks. It has long been my belief that the federal government's powers and actions should be restricted to its narrow confines under the U.S. Constitution. Following this view, I have also long favored the elimination of the Ministry of Silly Walks.
I did, however, receive financial compensation from the National Foundation for Silly Walk Research to write the column. My views did not change as a result of the remuneration, but only my decision to write on that particular subject that week.
Nevertheless, I did err in failing to disclose what could be seen as a conflict of interest. I recognize that as a result of my poor judgment, I may lose my weekly column, TV show, and Nike endorsement deal. I accept full responsibility for whatever consequences that may occur.
I only wish to take this moment to apologize to my loyal readers for failing to provide full disclosure of my financial dealings with the NFSWR and hope that they will overlook this error and continue their reading of my work.
Sincerely,
John
