Question of the Day

If you could only have one type of beer for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Shiner bock is good but Newcastle brown ale has to be tops.

John you know that now you are going to be responsible for a whole bunch of drunk bloggers out there trying all these beers

It's a difficult choice, but it would probably have to be Old Empire.

Free. More seriously, the amber from Capital Brewery here in Madison or ambergeddon from Ale Asylum - also brewed here in Madison.

Bass ale, of course, from a keg on tap, pumped up from the "man-cave" in my cellar, maintained at a proper pub temperature of 13 degs. C.

Do you promise me it won't change? Right now, that beer would be fresh Victory's Prima Pils. But it USED to be Tupper's Hop Pocket Pils, but that went away. Before that is was Magic Hat's Blind Faith (fresh...), but that beer is gone. Before that it was Patowmack Ale, but it too is gone.

See the dilema? It has to be fresh and it has to stick around for the rest of my life, unchanged.

Sweet Magnolia American Brown Ale, a micro-brew from Big River Grille in Chattanooga for now. But I'm always on the search for my next favorite beer.

Caffrey's Irish Ale. Our local distributor carried it for a couple of years and then stopped because one of the US big name brewers complained that it was cutting into the competition too much. Now I can't even buy it anywhere in Nebraska or Iowa.

Southern Flyer at Big River Grille in Chattanooga.

2nd for Old Peculiar. Great drinking beer, light enough to drink several and tasty enough so that you want to!
