Actually, it's amazing how powerful this is. Back in my USENET days, the fastest way to get answers to an issue was to post an incorrect answer. Ask the question, and people may or may not answer. Post an incorrect answer, and people would swarm you with corrections.
Of course, you still had the problem of figuring what was the actual correct answer. As I put it to someone who asked that people correct him if he was wrong: "This is USENET. Someone will correct you even if you're right'.
