I recently ran across one of my favorite short stories: "The Whore of Mensa" by Woody Allen. I've long enjoyed his film work, and this story was no exception. It's a parody of hard-boiled detective stories. I won't spoil the rest for you.
You can read the whole thing here.

cool story!!
John,
Great link - thanks for sharing - love Allen's sense of humor.
I just love this short story. It is a great ironical insight that Woody Allen had in creating the character of a whore who would sell intellectual favors instead of sexual ones.
